Plot sizes and rent charges
Plots can vary in size from very large – 500 square metres – to ‘mini’ – 80 square metres, or about the area occupied by 2 double decker buses.
Most of our plots are standard size, which can vary from 168 to 334 square metres (between 4 and 8 buses!)
If you want a very small plot and there isn’t one available, we can split suitable larger plots. Discuss this when you visit.
The Council sets the rent levels, not the Association, and we have to charge the rentals set for each size range. From 2021 rents will be changing each year in line with the Retail Price Index.
Rents are payable in advance every October for the coming 12 months. Anyone starting after 1st April gets a half-year discount, and there are also concessions for people taking on a very overgrown plot if they bring it up to standard (claimed in year 2).
Pensioners get a discount in the year after they are 65.
